Eyes for Freedom is extremely concerned for the wellbeing of civilians who had suffered injuries as a result of state-based violence in protests, during a time of communication blackout.
Many people with injuries were blocked from seeking formal medical care due to threats of persecution. This means that many have sought medical assistance from medical professionals operating online from outside of the country.
We are highly concerned that people are not able to receive even the little help they were able to before due to this prolonged communication blackout.
We demand that access to communication be restored and that civilians are provided safe access to medical care where and when needed.
Medical assistance, particularly for eye injuries, are incredibly time sensitive. The lack of access to medical assistance can lead to infection, disability or death.
Support from the international community is urgently needed to ensure the safety of civilians.
